Mission Impossible

Mission Impossible

The Joint Choir of 200 odd people was  ready to begin the  performance of Gloria by Vivaldi.
Full Concentration to kick off  the 12 movements big hymn of Gloria by Vivaldi
New Zealand, here we come.

Having been an Aussie for 18 years, I am a bit embarrassed as a Queenslander for not having travelled to popular places even likes Cairns. Now, because of the 21st WACCM Music Conference, my wife and I take out our first trip together in 5 years crossing the Tasman Sea to Auckland, New Zealand. With dry coughing a lingering problem since my last ministry trip to China in May, I am graceful that it has been under control by withholding blood pressure medication which is causing side effect of an irritated throat resulting in heavy dry coughing.

One of the greatest challenges of this trip is to sing amongst a 200 people choir the big hymns “Gloria” by Vivaldi in front of a 1200 plus audience at the Holy Trinity Cathedral on 14/7/2012, the last evening of the Conference.
The Holy Trinity Cathedral, a blending of new and old structure. The front are new construction, symbolized by the three triangles shape structure. The rear half section is old Anglican cathedral.

As an originally music blind, I thanks God blessing me with giftedness of musical cells to sing along with experienced choristers.  I do have experienced the work of the Holy Spirit aiding me along to do what originally was impossible. The performance of the joint 200 people choir turned out to be a great success. The conductor was even moved to tear after the performance of the choir. We are Christians from all over the world in USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, but we sang in oneness and perfect harmony despite our cultural differences. It brought the heaven to earth with great sense of peace, a peace and joy that could not be found in this world: -- certainly not in Hong Kong my motherland which is now suffering from political scandals one after another, tarnishing the creditability of the government. Real peace can only be found in Christ and sacred music is the avenue leading us to the throne of grace.

Another unexpected challenge is the request, or encouragement by the Board of WACCM for the key members of the Brisbane Christian Choir to form a branch to assist in the promotion of a sacred music revival amongst the Chinese Churches in Brisbane. Despite our already heavy commitment in church ministry and cross culture missions, I do feel that Sacred Music could be the oil to help get us firing up to serve the Lord. Forming a WACCM branch is a serious and heavy commitment. We have no certainty of having the expertise and volunteers to get involved in even regular promotional operations, not to mention the expectation for Brisbane to host the 2018 24th WACCM. The rational mind of our flesh say it is impossible but the Spirit of God assured us that in Him, nothing is impossible.

Here, we go Brisbane, Go! Go! Go!
Go for the Glory of God.
Our Dear Lord, Empower us to do your Will.
Taking up hosting the 24th WACCM in 2018!
