Jeremy Lin of the New York Knicks pointed heavenward after his three-point shot just before the buzzer beat the Raptors Tuesday night in Toronto. He thanked God for yet another miraculous win.Out of the blue, Jeremy Lin林書豪 has become a household name in just the lapse of 10days. A whirlwind 6 consecutive wins for a slumping NBA team in New York has generated a tsunami of Linsanity. The surname of Lin has amazingly been used to make up of endless terminology to signify the fever he brought to the NBA game worldwide, after the retirement of Yao Ming. Have a look at the comments invented by one of his fan.

One has just to Read Between the LINs that LINdeed he is not a one-hit wonder boy. As Tyson Chandler puts it: "He's no fluke" and "He is skilled". He has become a LINternational star with LINternational following in just a week's time. That's phonomenal! I'm sure wherever he may be traveLIN', lots of NBA fans (non-New York Knicks fans, at that) will be closely watching him. Here in our country, the Philippines, the word for earthquake is "lindol". I think he is a certified LINdol. He has crashed the LINternet "trending party" and has become the latest LINternet sensation. He has made me LINgered on NYK's site for so long waiting for LINsanity news and articles that circulate. I don't usually do that because I am a die-hard Lakers fan. Now, the Knicks are my 2nd team because of J-Lin. I hope and pray that his heads-up, exceLINt and teammate-LINspiring plays, by God's grace, LINgers. Now I would want the Knicks to be Champs! (that's pretty weird for an LA fan). A ring for them? Why not. He's D'Antoni's latest LINnovation and savior. He's the Knicks' Missing LINk, He is the fans' and his teammates' LINspiration. Truly, he's one of the best of the players today because he gives great LINergy to New York as a team and as a city. He's LINcredible, he's LINsane, I could say he is the JEREMYDY.that can be his monicker. JEREMYDY or the LINk or the LINkin' Spark Please forward those to the LINBA.

For the democratic development of China, I once shared Sau Wai’s comment that the world should better off without relying on any hero. But since the emergence of Jeremy Lin a couple of weeks ago, I recognize “hero” still has a place in the end time world. Actually, God did raise up heroes in the Biblical history, for instance, Prime minister Joseph, Judge Gideon, King David, Queen Esther. They all had been used by God as His vessel for manifesting His might and glory in making human history. In modern era, for a certain ethnic group, God also has raised up heroes who boast not about their achievements, but give credit to the work of God. Normally they are young, and appear inexperienced but God has bestowed beam of greatness in their life witnessing for the power and grace of God. Michael Chang was one, who miraculously won his first and only Grand Slam at the age of 17. His steadfast faith in God shown by prayer at end of each match, win or loss, keeps God in the centre place of his successful professional tennis career. Li Na supposedly is the next after Michael Chang, but she just let the opportunity slip away by refusing to show empathy for the Tiananmen Square masscare victims on the 22nd Anniversary of the June Fourth event which coincided with her historical win of the same French Open that Michael Chang won 22 years ago. (please refer my blog on this topic as per link http://cuqldfreeblog.blogspot.com.au/2011/06/22_14.html ) God always has a spare hand of cards to play. After a rough start as a Harvard Graduate undrafted by any NBA team initially and sitting on the bench for the entire 2011 season in the Golden State team, then sold to LA Laker lasting only a month and yet again to be abandoned to Knicks the New York NBA team, he just digs deep to make best preparation and keeps praying for a divine appointed moment to take on the centre stage of the world for God.

If you think he is just a sudden hero for rescuing the NBA season of Knicks, then you are wrong. He is not playing for his own fame or lucrative contract. He is a Harvard Economics Graduate who supposedly could make good income for living in the business world. But he feels God has given him the compassion and giftedness to play basketball in a miraculous way that people will undoubtedly see the finger prints of God all over the life of Jeremy behind the scene leading him to success in NBA as such His name can be glorified. With the hype built up in the past 5 games, the world was stopped this morning 14/2 to watch yet another miraculous win from behind led by Jeremy in His strength through his 3 pointers with 0.5 seconds left for the game. As the visiting team, Knicks had all along been trailing far behind Raptors for as many as 17 points at one stage in the second quarter. They crawled back only in the last 3 minutes of the last quarter, with Jeremy tying the game at 87 to 87 with less than 1 minute to go. Then the killer blow of a 3 pointer by Jeremy at the last moment with 0.5 seconds left sealed the victory for Knicks yet again extending the streak to a record 6 straight wins ever since Jeremy was called from the bench to take up the all important point guard role.

For, many with similar level of success and sudden stardom, self-absorbed pride would unavoidably be the common reaction. For Jeremy, suddenly, he finds his surname LIN can be used to create so many new terminology such as "Be my val-LIN-tine"; "The sky's the Lin-it"; L-I-N 4 M-V-P; “The Asian Linsation” etc etc. A tribute came on the newsstands, where Sports Illustrated featured Lin on its cover, under the headline “Against All Odds.” ;「All Lin」depicts the all importance of Lin for Knicks from the phrase 「All In」meaning how Knicks bet all their hope on Lin to rescue the team from becoming totally irrelevant for the rest of this season. People call the sharp increase in ticket price for matches with Jeremy playing as L-inflation. But Jeremy remains non-flattered and tries hard to deflect all those prasies on him by directing attention either to his teammates or to God. Actually, President Obama should award him with a medal for creating such a strong stimulus to the stagnant USA economy. Jeremy looks set not only the saviour of Knicks but America.

Yet, Jeremy is the humble hero that God has commissioned in this age to hail His name loud and high in all post match media interviews. He always gives credit to God making all things work together to give him this unexpected big stage to shine and compliment all his team mates for the good team effort making this dream run of success. Michael Chang has been in this same role on and off the tennis court even till now. Michael Chang vocally praised and thanked God in all circumstances, win or loss in a prayer after the match. Like-wise, Jeremy never stops testifying for God’s guidance and showing peace instilled in his heart while waiting for this current big moment to come. He for sure will shine for His glory sake with an even bigger impact. God is really making His inroad to conquer hearts globally in His Kingdom fight back plan. But mainland China will be hit the hardest by the Lin-sanity (not L-insanity) and L-incredibility. All the outside influences from the democratic showcase of last Taiwan election to this faith-based pious life attitude of Jeremy as a Christian solider on the NBA arena will certainly trigger life changing effects on many lives, youngster especailly. May His will be done.

Quoted below is the transcript of one of Jeremy’s many interviews. You certainly will be impressed by his humility, inner peace and absolute trust in God. I also quoted a few Chinese news clips with a link to an interview by the Good TV, a Christian Broadcasting company in Taiwan. (哈佛小子 - 林書豪、吳信信 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fYrTv_eekI) For those Chinese readers, you may certainly find it illuminating to have a full understanding of the motivation of Jeremy seeking to glorify God through his efforts of becoming a household name of NBA. The way that God will use Jeremy can be beyond human imagination. Just keep watching how this young man will become the catalyst for great changes in China and in the world.

Jeremy Lin says his storybook run with NY Knicks is ‘a miracle from God’

Linsanity is in full swing in Toronto, where Knicks face Raptors at 7 p.m.TORONTO — Jeremy Lin is calling his rags-to-riches NBA story "a miracle from God", adding that it is more than just a coincidence that everything is suddenly breaking right for him."Anytime something like this happens, a lot of stuff has to be put into place, and a lot of it is out of my control," the Knicks phenom point guard said on Tuesday. "If you look back at my story, doesn't matter where you look, but God's fingerprints are all over the place where there have been a lot of things that had to happen that I couldn't control."You can try to call it coincidence,” Lin continued, “but at the end of the day, there are 20, 30 things when you combine them all that had to happen at the right time in order for me to be here. That's why I call it a miracle."Lin addressed a large media contingent following the Knicks’ morning practice at Air Canada Centre. He was asked everything from his living arrangements to his meteoric rise from bench warmer to international sensation. He was also asked about a comment boxer Floyd Mayweather made via Twitter where Mayweather says that race, and not talent, is responsible for the attention Lin is receiving.Lin, who has remained grounded and humbled over the past two weeks despite his sudden fame, managed to stay clear of the controversy when asked about Mayweather's comments and if his heritage plays a factor.CARMELO LIKES KNICKS' LIN-NING FORMULA"I don't really know," Lin said. "I'm not going to guess because I don't have an answer to that question. (I'm) not really too concerned with what anyone says."On Monday, Mayweather wrote on Twitter, "Jeremy Lin is a good player, but all the hype is because he's Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise."Mayweather’s chief rival — though they’ve never fought — Manny Pacquiao got into the act Monday by tweeting “God Bless Jeremy Lin.” Mayweather has a history with Pacquiao, and in 2010 made racial comments about the Filipino fighter.Mayweather’s comment is reminiscent to the late 1980s when Isiah Thomas and Dennis Rodman both alluded to the fact that if Larry Bird were black he'd be just another player.A SNEAK PEEK AT COUCH WHERE LIN CRASHEDDespite the Mayweather controversy, the Canadian press is officially caught up in Lin-Sanity. Lin was on the front page of The Globe and Mail, Canada's national newspaper. Approximately 10% of Toronto’s 490,000 residents speak Chinese. During Lin's press conference, an Asian reporter handed him a card honoring the Year of the Dragon. When asked how he is handling his sudden fame, Lin said: "I try not to pay attention to it, spend a lot of time with my family and friends in my free time. When I'm with the team I stay focused, we know what we have to do . . . and just staying in my bible basically."PHOTOS: MEET JEREMY LIN, THE LATEST KNICKS SUPERSTARBecause of his religious references, Lin has drawn comparisons to Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow. Raptors head coach Dwane Casey said that when he was with the Dallas Mavericks and coached Lin in the Vegas Summer League in 2010, Lin told him he wanted to be a preacher."My question to him was, why in the hell do you want to be an NBA player, you're smarter than all of us," Casey told the Harvard graduate.Lin said that there have been times throughout his career, dating back to his college days, when he questioned whether he was a good enough player. He asked himself that same question when the Knicks assigned him to the D-League in early January. In December, Lin was cut by both the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets. He was signed by the Knicks on Dec. 27 and was technically the fifth-string point guard behind Toney Douglas, Iman Shumpert, Mike Bibby and Baron Davis. Lin got a chance only because Davis, recovering from a back injury, suffered a setback days before Lin played extended minutes against the Nets.Lin has stayed in the lineup since and is making the most of his opportunity."I think it's a miracle from God," Lin said. "That's how I would describe it. Because obviously I don't think anybody expected this to happen the way it happened."
